From Girl to Girl

This is a ‘Girl’s only’ post. Guys you can click away! Girls, stay tuned, this is probably the best tip I’ll ever give you on this blog!

I thought you should know that every month, when comes the day of our period, come along a week (or so) of extraordinary waste. Studies in North America have shown that in an average lifespan of 41 years of period, a woman dumps 17’000 sanitary items. Over a year in each and everyone of us contributes to the dumpoing of 12 billion sanitary pads and 7 billion tampons. Now how ecological does that sound?

So here’s the hygienic, green and CONVENIENT solution for your ‘that week of the month’: The DIVA CUP (for the US) and the MOONCUP (for the UK)

It’s safe and hygienic! This silicone cup is a reusable alternative to the traditional pads and tampons. Once put in place it collects your menstrual flow without leaks! It’s more reliable than tampons and you can keep it for 8 hours! Then,  you just remove it, wash it and put it back on!

Check it out here and watch the video from the American Diva Cup or the British Mooncup.

If that’s not appealing to you, think of our grandmas when tampons were first invented. They were scary little things as well! And if you’re not yet convinced, just know that it’s also a money-saver! In the EU women contribute to an average of 2.5 billion euros for disposable sanitary protection in a year!

  2. Clara says:

    Have YOU tried it ?

  3. Kim says:

tee hee, sometimes also called mooncup =)
    prices for the bulk order?

  4. Agathe says:

It would be 20 pounds for the Mooncup (free shipping, but still more friendly to have one parcel delivered) or 20 pounds for the Divacup + 20 pounds delivery (that we would ideally share if there was many of us ordering) That’s very expensive for the Divacup and I guess the Mooncup is all the same 🙂

Kim, thanks for bringing up the Mooncup! Had not come across it myself 🙂
